The drinking water plant, located in the industrial area of Olbia (SS), has a maximum capacity of about 200 - 220 litres per second and serves the entire industrial area of Olbia (800 hectares), as well as marginally some settlements adjacent to the industrial area itself. During the summer period (June ÷ September), this plant also supplies drinking water to the urban district of Pittulongu, under trade union ordinances still in force, as well as, at the request of the city public network manager (Abbanoa S.p.A.), to some areas of the urban centre of Olbia.

The consortium water purifier is currently supplied with raw water by the Sardinia Water Authority (ENAS), using the Liscia dam, as well as limited quantities from other authorised collection points.

The consortium water service also supplies drinking water to the ships currently docking at the industrial port of Olbia.

The chemical/physical treatment processes guarantee the removal of contaminating substances (organic and inorganic material) from the raw water, with the obtainment of drinking water for domestic consumption or industrial use, in compliance with the standards imposed by Legislative Decree 31/2001 and subsequent amendments and integrations.

The management of CIPNES pays particular attention to protect the environment, minimizing the impacts produced and raising the awareness of the various stakeholders.
