Telematic infrastructure: the Cipnes Gallura is already in line with the connection objectives dictated by the national plan ultra broadband - Italy Digital 2020

The access to efficient, high quality and secure telecommunications systems, in particular the Internet, has become essential for any type of business initiative, both commercial and industrial. The need to promote one's own production and specific expertise (know-how) also and above all outside the simple local context has led, and will lead more and more overwhelmingly in the near future, to the need to use of the telecommunications means that allow the propagation of the information in the simplest, fastest and most reliable way possible.

CIPNES Gallura has favoured in the production district of Olbia the widespread realization, by the most important players on the world scene, of network connectivity infrastructures aimed at satisfying the needs of the production process of the entrepreneurial system operating in it with high quality standards.

Today they are operating in the industrial agglomeration of Olbia, both with their own service infrastructures and, in some cases, also with administrative offices, leading players such as Wind Tre SPA, TIM SPA, Stel Srl and Evolink Srl, each of which designs and implements technological interventions aimed at providing Internet connectivity service with bandwidth (over 100Mb/sec) on cable, fiber or WIFI.

Other national and international operators have recently shown great interest in the project, starting concrete discussions with CIPNES Gallura in order to provide their specific connectivity services within the industrial area of Olbia, including the Iliad Group and the company Siportal srl.

CIPNES Gallura has also started important discussions with important companies worldwide regarding the potential implementation and use of 5G technology in the industrial area of Olbia, technology that would allow the use of the mobile network for a whole series of services that are certainly innovative and indispensable for the development of digital transformation and the so-called "smart cities, factories and mobility".

CIPNES Gallura can be said to be already in line with the connection objectives dictated by the National Plan for Ultra Broadband - Digital Italy 2020 which "defines the guidelines for public initiatives aimed at the implementation of ultra broadband infrastructure in the period from 2014 to 2020, establishing to cover 85% of the population at 100 Mbps and all citizens with connectivity of at least 30 Mbps. (ref: https://www.agendadigitale.eu/infrastrutture/come-va-il-piano-banda-ultra-larga-coperture-gare-infratel-e-il-futuro-a-1-gigabit/)".

The Internet is ultimately a telecommunications network that exploits various technologies, such as copper telephone lines, optical fibre, satellites, etc., to physically connect computers, mobile devices (e.g. "smartphones") or other generally fixed devices (e.g. "smart TV").

Today it is used for example:

- as a source from which to find information, in the same way as a huge library (reaching and consulting millions of websites located all over the world is considered normal; from the news divulged through an online newspaper to guides written by enthusiasts for the construction of a common or not);

- to communicate (from the initial emails of just a few years ago to videoconferences, which have now become standard working practice in many circumstances);

- to share simple or complex content, from a single document to multimedia resources;

- to access to services (e.g. access to one's own online bank has also become practice; distance learning in some areas is becoming practice);

- as a means for entertainment (from online games to access to digital radio and TV);

- to buy or sell goods and services (digital marketing).

The list (partial and incomplete) of the above mentioned activities shows how important it is to have the most reliable and performing internet access channels to be able to carry out one's (also) work, because safe and performing internet access is in all respects above all a work tool and all the functions listed above are possible because someone (in particular a company or a single professional) produces them and makes them available online.

With the infrastructure of internet connection services offered by the national and international industry operating in the industrial area of CIPNES Gallura in Olbia, each of the above mentioned functions can be implemented since a long time: the company and/or the investor that needs internet access only for the sale or purchase of "physical" goods and services or those that instead want to use the internet for the sale or purchase of goods and services.

Renewable energy production, bicycle paths

Cipnes has invested and keeps on investing a lot in the production of energy from renewable sources, as it is happening, moreover, at world level by the most important nations of the planet.

It is not only the environment that benefits: from a purely economic point of view, investments in the energy sector, and more generally to safeguard the environment, can have a considerable added value and a return in terms of employment and sustainable development.

The creation of an eco-sustainable production district with the installation of plants for the production of energy from renewable sources, together with the elaboration of specific projects for the increase of energy efficiency, is the strategic objective for Cipnes -Gallura that intends to become a reference point in the production and supply of energy from renewable sources for the benefit of companies, institutions and subjects (public and private) that intend to develop innovative initiatives within the renewable energy chain connected with the production system of the territory.

Among the projects carried out by the Consortium there is a 1000 kWp photovoltaic covering field and functional restoration of the consortium landfill in Spiritu Santu (Olbia). The plant is located in a degraded context and, in fact, without particular environmental value for which, in line with the regional energy planning and Regional Landscape Plan, the use for the production of clean energy is the best choice in both environmental and economic terms. The conversion of production and environmental recomposition is also the basis of the second large 1.1 Gwh annual photovoltaic field, built by Cipnes in a disused quarry owned by the company.

An "anaerobic digestion" plant for the production of biomethane produced by the treatment of organic and special differentiated non-hazardous urban waste treated in the consortium composting facility is in the authorization phase. The biogas derived from the anaerobic digestion of biomass deriving mainly from solid urban waste, will be treated to achieve the quality of biomethane and thus be fed into the city's natural gas network for distribution in the urban area, in the consortium industrial district of Olbia and in the future also at the service of the Mater Olbia health and research centre.

The most futuristic project of the Industrial Consortium is the cycle and running track with photovoltaic roofing. It will be interconnected to the municipal cycle path and will run from the peri-urban entrance of the consortium industrial district of Olbia towards the coast of the industrial area in the direction of Golfo Aranci and Pittulongu beach. The route will be 3.5 km long and 4 m wide and will be covered by 18,000 square meters of photovoltaic panels. The photovoltaic plant positioned on roof canopies will have a power of about 2 MWp.
