Gap between supply and demand increases: staff difficult to find in one out of four cases
Language teachers, analysts and software designers, electrical welding specialists, insurance agents, electrical technicians: for companies, almost 6 out of 10 of these professions are difficult to find. The Excelsior 2018 Report by Unioncamere and Anpal, presented in Rome on 27 March 2019, once again highlights the problematic meeting between the work demand expressed by companies in industry and services and the supply on the market. A misalignment that in 2018 affected 26% of the over 4.5 million employment contracts that the production system intended to stipulate, 5 percentage points more than in 2017."
Once again this year, the Excelsior Report shows that there is a strong misalignment between supply and demand labour in Italy," underlined the President of Unioncamere, Carlo Sangalli. "Technological development is also affecting the skills required to workers: in the future more than 9 out of 10 profiles will be associated with the need for digital skills. To this is added the growing search for qualified profiles. All the actors involved must work together to improve the education quality, training and employment services. The Chambers of Commerce can guarantee, through the Excelsior Information System and the Register of Companie a proper, updated, punctual and prompt information both on the labour market and on the productive fabric".
